Capron goblet real or fake?
This Capron goblet arrived in the post today but I'm not 100% convinced it's the real deal, the quality of moulding is very poor quality and it just doesn't look old.
Thoughts please..
Thoughts please..

Picked up a Capron jug today with similar stripy decoration. Like you, it doesn't strike me as particularly old.

Re: Vallauris (South of France)
Recent purchase a charger marked Giraud Vallauris. I believe the artist is Marcel Giraud. Anyone confirm this?

Re: Vallauris (South of France)
Hello
After more than an odd year, here I'm back.
I try to give answer to several questions about Gerbino objects.
Dantheman 2010/09/14 3:52pm : one of my pieces (YK)
tenpot 2010/10/02 5:00pm : YK too
tenpot 2011/02/20 6:03 : Jean GERBINO 1950-1960
Dantheman 2011/02/25 6:31 : Jean GERBINO (with 1st son in law Ange CAPRA)) 1943-1953
Dantheman 2011/05/04 2:00 : 1960-1975
Dantheman 2011/05/04 3:28pm : before 1950
Dantheman 2011/07/05 8:59 : I’m more optimistic than you, I would have said 1960-1980
Dawee 2011/07/10 6:44 : YK. when the sun strike hard, clay dry too fast and sometimes it's too late to stamp pieces
Dantheman 2011/08/17 2:33 : Jean GERBINO (with 1st son in law Ange CAPRA)) 1943-1953
Dantheman 2011/11/30 3:40 : I knew that many customers liked better more flashy colors but I decided to switch from engineer to potter to be free to do what I wanted, not necessarily what other wanted. In other worlds, I'm pig headed ;-)
Alex_s 2012/06/12 5:19pm : my understanding is that Roger CAPRON decided to replace Vallauris by France on request from foreign customers. Bloomingdale required that pieces were labelled « Made in France » when I sold them some pieces.
brin mcadie 2012/07/09 11:56pm : I have no difficulties to read the city name : Vallauris
R Ferrao 2012/09/12 4:04pm : 1950-1960
About Roger CAPRON products : the enamels in use in the workshop were of good quality. It was important to get good quality objects with an important production. Some customers were buying objects to use them, but others were already buying them as collectors. In the late case, objects were carefully placed on a shell. From time to time, I see objects with more than 30 years of dust. When I prepared the 2007 exhibition I received an object with old cigarette ash and was asked to leave it in the piece ;-)

Re: Vallauris (South of France)
Also Alice Colonieu was not a Vallauris artist she worked in Roaix vaucluse
Re: Vallauris (South of France)
OK
If you want to correct other descriptions, I may add that there was not a potter named « Le Vaucoux ». He was named « Levaucour » and his buildings were demolished two years ago.

Re: Vallauris (South of France)
Set of mugs with handpainted fish on one side and a mixture of starfish, mussels, clams, and crayfish on the other.
All are signed Vallauris Decor Main (handpainted), but one has a painter's mark above Vallauris (bottom photo).
