Re: Vallauris (South of France)
the glaze looks superficially like his but unlike what you see on internet Jaques Blin never worked at Vallauris
Pair of jugs. Vallauris?
Pair of jugs, one marked Simon P.L. on the base. Just checking if they're Vallauris before adding them to the thread.

Re: Vallauris (South of France)
I have never seen that frothy turquoise glaze used anywhere else and the foot ring looks right for Vallauris so I'm almost certain

Re: Vallauris (South of France)
those pichets came in 3 sizes P7 28/30 P8 22/23cm P9 15/16 cm your design was done fore the Harrison Gibson shop in Nice. The Plate has more the colour of the 60s stuff but I don't know. I'm all for separating all the individual potters from those marked just Vallauris or with an atelier name also a french pottery thread seperate from the other european would be good

Re: Vallauris (South of France)
One of the things I find most mind-stretching about these lamps is the 3-D design inspiration involved in the shades. Mine is made of string thrown across two triangular frames which are curved in three planes relative to each other ( I think....) My brain just won't work like that. The shade on the boat in the link is similarly wrought although completely different. The original shades are very important when buying these things. I have a boaty type base which I made a "chinese junk" sort of sail shade for out of a Waitrose hessian carrier bag, which looks ok from a distance (about a mile) but I can't design one with even a tiny bit of the original style.
Does anyone have any pictures of original shade designs for these I wonder......?
