Clayburn pottery. 95 is a pattern number rather than a date

Thanks, Naomi. It’s funny, I was convinced it was a 1990s piece with a 50s look. I saw your set with the same pattern. Lovely

The Clayburn Pottery was in operation from 1953 to 1957 and was established by William Lunt the Works Director at Midwinter. It was a separate business but Roy Midwinter did allow the work to be shown on the Midwinter stand at a trade fair or two. The pieces were hand decorated at home in the evenings and weekends, I believe, mostly by Midwinter decorators. Certainly Jessie Tait and her assistant, Bessie Wells, did some of the decorating.
