This jug is exactly the same design and bears exactly the same mould details on the base as a number of jugs marked with the back stamp ‘Radford Pottery’, all circa 1935. Can anyone please tell the reason why my jug has no stamp and if there is any way to identify it properly. Many thanks Kit

Your photos are a bit small. please use the 640 pix width setting.

Not Honestly sure it's Radford, but we will need a clear base picture also.

Is this Radford Pottery? Empty Radford jug query.

Thanks for getting back to me. Apologies for poor posting, I hit the send key before I'd got everything together. I've used the number on the base of the jug 778313 to search and that has come up with a couple of 'Radford' jugs , one of which has exactly the same layout of numbering on the base but actually overstamped 'Radford Pottery'.

The long number on the base is the design Registration Number and it tells us that the design was registered in 1933. It means that only companies that register the design can use the design, unless they licence it out.

What I know about Radford Pottery has been lost in the mists of time but, if you have seen images of other examples with the Radford Pottery over-stamp, then it would suggest to me that your example was made by them.

Radford handcraft pottery was in operation from 1933-48, so the Rd number would
fall in this period.
I can't say I've ever seen Radford in this style though.
