I believe that means simplified form of PE pattern which will be part of the floral range of designs I would guess. The other mark could be the painters monogram

A "BLUE POOL" 13 in charger. Printed mark BLUE POOL and incised in capitals under
the glaze POOLE ENGLAND and a shape number 252. Only one piece in the book,
and very little info, never seen another bit.

Here's an odd thing. Stoneware plate 8 in dia, rather heavy, somewhat crudely decorated
for Poole, with thick applied slip. Maybe a trial, but it has a shape number 282, and a
pattern code, possibly JK, and possibly a monogram on top of it, a bit hard to decipher.
Mark 15, (1922-34).

poole - Poole Pottery up to 1959 & Traditional - Page 6 Empty Poole pottery dish 361 Cynthia Parr?

Post by vanmann September 28th 2014, 6:25 pm

This 361 dish has what appears to be a decorators mark which I believe may be Cynthia Parr or Patricia Brown both dating to 1950s, would this be correct? It also has painted marks UF W, what would these denote?
As always all thoughts much appreciated, John

Thanks Dan, would this date suggest Patricia Brown as decorator? Was it common for decorators to use same marks?

Patricia Brown worked at Poole 56/62 so quite likely
2 or 3 pairs of paintresses shared a mark but it wasn't common

The seller knew it was Poole but thought it was a fairly recent one. Until Dan Id-ed it i didn't realise what a bargain I'd got. :)
