Poole Pottery 1980 to present day

It was like the stamp in the first photo, half the size of a normal TV mark, you could 'feel' it on the surface so it was more like a paint than an ink. Also, not that it matters, I should have asked how much the lady paid for it but I think it would have been not very much. She was under no illusions as to my opinion of it and how quickly it should be put in the nearest skip.

Interesting. Not seen any myself, but then wouldn't pick up those pots to look.

As for the 1920s CSA mark on a 60s/70s bit, that is taking the pee a bit eh?

This buisness is so full of crooks and con-artists, all trying to get one over on
the unsuspecting punter, Not to mention all the restored stuff around, so unpleasant.
I've been caught out a couple of time in the past, I never get anything restored.

Fake or not?

Reasons for thinking so:

1. A somewhat 'forced' abstract design
2. Firing a bit too perfect for my liking
3. Blanks are very slightly smaller, slightly thinner and less deep than all my other 49ers

Colourways do seem to be quite 'Poolesque' though and the backstamps seem to be authentic, and under the glaze, so maybe I am totally wrong.

Any thoughts ... ?

Shape/back/foot/stramp all look right, but what unusual designs...wierd
They did allsorts at that time.

It's the unusual designs that make me think they are not from the 60's ... as Naomi says, quite Alan Clarke like ...

I saw a 'POOLE POTTERY Bowl >large Trial piece with GOLD backstamp' on ebay yesterday, the colourway looked odd,the size slightly odd and the stamp extremely odd.
Has anyone here seen this planter or stamp?

The foot-rim (or lack of it) looks wrong also.

I've always liked the way Poole use local references in their designs. I've just added a third take on Corfe Castle, the small one at the front which is a Jane Brewer Studio piece from the shop last month.  Beautifully painted it could almost be Worcester!

Poole Studio date Z1 - 1999 - Carol Cutler while at the Pottery painting a limited run of 200 Brooches she decorated a very small number of 16" Chargers. These were dated with the letter 'Z'.

I know this is Poole late 1960's to 1980.  I just wondered if anyone recognises the painters mark and therefore when it was made, and possibly tell me if there is a name to the pattern.

the Poole vase is quite a find, the design itself has no name but it is part of the Aegean range.
The monogram belongs to Leslie Elsden who was the man behind that range

Thank you that is a great help, will research him. We are clearing a house that was occupied by an elderly relative and it is becoming clear that she was quite a collector of 50's 60's and 70's pottery.
