Poole Pottery bone china bird with gold mark and gold highlights, 1985-86 I think, designed by Barbara Linley-Adams?

Yes, Barbara Linley Adams 1985-86. It is a Teal decoy duck. Originally produced as a stoneware model in 1982.

Mouse with strawberry on a mound of strawberry leaves
Not sure if this is pre- or post- 1980
I've seen it in the usual grey/brown stoneware, but not in white.

Re: Poole Pottery 1980 to present day
It is meant to be a vole on a strawberry but it looks as if the mould is rather worn out as the definition is quite poor. It should be like the decoy duck above with gold eyes and the 'bone china' backstamp but yours has a std poole mark. I can only guess that it was produced as a cheaper version maybe later in the 1980's or even early 90's. It is easy to forget that there was a recession for much of this period that affected companies like Poole who made for the leisure market.

Re: Poole Pottery 1980 to present day
Cheers. I initially thought it was porcelain like the duck but now I'm thinking its glazed earthenware

You are right Naomi. The porcelain animals have a gold backstamp and gold eyes. White glazed earthenware models don't.
Also, for some reason the porcelain figures were based on the stoneware range whereas white glazed seem to have been based on the blue glaze range. This figure is a vole with a strawberry and was produced in 1989.

Re: Poole Pottery 1980 to present day
I think the backstamp is mark no. 90 which was used 1993 - 1999. Looking in my Poole book ( p. 200 ) it looks to be 'Bamboo' pattern which was made exclusively for John Lewis, designed by Anita Harris.

Unless you have a buyer, probably Lindy.
The top Poole tableware patterns in demand to look out for are:
Dorset fruit
Fresco
Vineyard

Re: Poole Pottery 1980 to present day
Its easy to forget that tableware has always been 95% ( my uncorroborated guess ) of Poole's production. There seem to have been loads of different designs in the 80's and 90's but then there was little other giftware etc. being produced. Consider how much twintone from the 50's and 60's is still around. It is generally of good quality and wears well.

Re: Poole Pottery 1980 to present day
So sorry PP but Poole tableware is such poor quality, ranks along with Portmeirion.
Soft clay, it cracks. chips, crazes, gets destroyed in a dishwasher, but nice designs,
and people still want replacements, thats what I do.

If you know more about it than me then I bow to your superior knowledge, it was a bit of a 'throwaway' remark.

Poole plate with the Odyssey pattern, designed by Alan Clarke for the Guild of Specialist China and Glass Retailers. Millenium Preview Edition.
Could the design be a comet?

Collection of Poole miniatures, thrown by Alan White and decorated by Nicola Massarella. I got the blue stripey one with red stars.

The miniatures are around 5-8yrs old (approx.) but the patterns are mainly based on 1950's patterns, a couple are 1930's patterns i.e. the deer design.

Cheers; the retro designs did confuse me. I'll move them to the other thread.
