ppcollectables wrote:Going back to the 'Cosmic' pattern vase, the paintress mark looks like Dawn Polden. Cosmic was one of the early 'living glaze' patterns and was discontinued c.2001 - probably when they went into administration for the first time. Upto around 2001 the bases of vases were white with printed backstamps whilst all later vases had moulded bases that incorporated 'poole' and the dolphin.
gareth-h wrote:Cosmic was introduced in 2000 and was quite short lived. I don't have an exact date but it was not in the 2004 catalogue. The paintress mark is for Dawn Polden.
Great info! Thank you both

Designed by Uri Geller? So the first recorded instance of genuine Poole made by a fake!

Re: Poole Pottery 1980 to present day
I think that this little plate is from a range produced in the early 1980s. Initials at the bottom on the front are those of Barbara Adams (if memory serves) who designed the range. The decorator's initials are on the back next to the Poole stamp.
Not the prettiest Poole out there but I do like birds.

Yes late 1970s through the 80s. Designed by Barbara Linley Adams, your dish was
decorated by Janet Stone 1978.

Re: Poole Pottery 1980 to present day
there were no w marks for living glaze paintress' so my best guess is that the monogram was done too close to the edge and it's supposed to be JV - Jo Vincent

Re: Poole Pottery 1980 to present day
I picked this up today at a local Charity shop, Not the sort of thing I normally buy but "Hey, Ho!, it's hand made". Not Poole as I would expect it, so I decided on a quick flip and put it on my son's ebay listing. It had a bid within 1 hour of listing!! Is it by someone special? Am I missing something here? Poole is really not my specialist subject; how old is it? Why so plain if Poole is all about bright colours?

Re: Poole Pottery 1980 to present day
not a piece I have seen before so it's not commonplace but not worth a lot imo

Re: Poole Pottery 1980 to present day
I only picked it off the shelf because it was hand made and was surprised to see the Poole mark underneath. I didn't know they made this sort of stuff. Anyway for a quid I felt it worth taking just to investigate it a bit more. Any idea when it was made? There doesn't appear to be anything to suggest a particular maker; was there someone who might have typically made this kind of thing?

Made between 1993 and 1999.

Re: Poole Pottery 1980 to present day
Probably made to put a nightlight type candle in, the mid 90's was not a period of great innovation.

Re: Poole Pottery 1980 to present day
Late 1990's, apparently made for Allders - they must have closed at least 15yrs ago.

Poole Pottery identification
I cannot identify this little vase. Can someone please help me? It has only POOLE on the base, no dolphin, Patricia Wells mark and also has 15T or 157 on the base (maybe the size?). Its 9.5cm high, 5 cm across the top, 3.5cm across the base. I bought 'the book' :-) POOLE POTTERY but it's not in there. Patricia Wells was between 1959 - 1973 but this looks quite modern for that era. This is my first time posting and am really not sure if my photos uploaded or not. I hope so. Thank you.
