large jug/vase very stylised, sandy texture glazed decor to front only
Hi
I wonder if anyone could help with id'ing this please?
My knowledge of pottery is limited, but from numerous searches it may be Italian perhaps?
It is signed (see pics if I manage to upload them correctly) but I have been unable to work out who it may be.Any help would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks
m

Re: large jug/vase very stylised, sandy texture glazed decor to front only
It looks like it has marks on all three corners , a bigger pic of those might help, what height is it ? is the writing along the edge in pencil ?, looks a nice piece , Ed

Re: large jug/vase very stylised, sandy texture glazed decor to front only
looks like a Bertoncello piece.
Re: large jug/vase very stylised, sandy texture glazed decor to front only
I don't think it's bertoncello Frillo , the colour is a bit similar , but everything else isn't , this vase has impressed marks on the corners .

I think you may have a piece by Roberto Rigon

Roberto used a paper label between 1990 and 1998 which would explain the absence of his RR impressed stamp

I can't see it being Rigon myself , As i said there is impressed marks on the corner indicating a potter or pottery .

Hi
And thank you firstly for your welcome and then also for taking so much time to help on the id of this for a newbie (who may never be able to repay the favour since my knowledge is limited to about three pottery marks). Dantheman, do you really think? How exciting would that be. Either way I would never have found that site in a million years of looking. Just wondering if it is, why would the the signature be MI marked?
Please bear with me, I'm still trying to work out posting more than one pic in a post - corner pics coming up.
Thank you so much again. I really appreciate it.

Re: large jug/vase very stylised, sandy texture glazed decor to front only
I honestly don't think they do Dan , they vaguely match in colour but that's all , the finish is totally different , still if he sent a pic to them they might confirm one way or another ,I would still like to see a close up pic of the marks .

Re: large jug/vase very stylised, sandy texture glazed decor to front only
Last one of corners.
My query over the suggestion, might be that the decor on his pieces looks as though they are not as thick as the pieces on my jug - as though they are 'painted' on. On mine they are pieces of quite thick glaze if that makes sense - sorry, my descriptions are awful.

Re: large jug/vase very stylised, sandy texture glazed decor to front only
no only one corner marked in pencil - the 40 in one corner is made by pencil and there is no mark underneath it (i.e a 'hole' or 'mark' on the body of the piece) - then the word writing on the edge is in pencil, and on the other two corners, on one there is what seems to be a purposefully incised circle in the clay and in the other a small scratch mark in the surface.
thanks again all

Hi Dan
I did email him but didn't receive a reply. I may try again. Do you think I should. I just assumed because I had not heard anything, that it wasn't made by RR.
