Re: Chance / Fiesta (England)
Hi, they were made between 1948 and 1953 at the factory in Smethwick. They are often seen with transfer prints, these engraved ones are rarely seen. I'm glad I've been able to help, Stuart

Scarce Chance Glass Handkerchief Vase
Obviously I know this is made by Chance Brothers, (I have encountered enough over the years living where I live!) But this is in a pattern I have never seen before. It's Michael Harris's Calypto pattern printed in blue on white background. Was hoping somebody might be able to shed some light on it? Maybe a trial piece?

Re: Chance / Fiesta (England)
Made for Butterley, of Ripley, Derbyshire.
I assume it is a chance "corporate giftware" tray, 5 x 4 inches, printed on the back. The Abstract design
is very reminiscent of the well known designer Tibor Reich, who coincidentally worked at the nearby
Denby pottery during the 1950s. I have seen other similar dishes in black with a large capital "T" in
white, which has always been attributed to him. Did chance have a design team, or were designs
simply sent in for production?
The chanceglass.net e-mail is currently not functioning, as I have tried to contact them.

I think I might have a matching 3-tier cake or sandwich stand. I'll see if I can dig it out of the loft soon.
