Radford pottery by H J Wood / Wood & Sons (Woods).
In the 1920s Edward Radford was working for H J Wood Ltd , Harry Wood marketed Radford's work with the backstamp 'E Radford, England, Hand painted', and later set up Radford Handcraft Pottery which traded up to 1948 when Radford retired, H J Wood continued making pots to his designs and marked them with the 'E Radford' backstamp
what I would like to know is
a, when was this made?
b, what was it designed to be used for?
c, is the ETE mark a decorators mark?

It would appear the ete is decorators mark, HJ Wood continued to produce Radfords designs into the 1960's and marked them with a printed E.Radford backstamp , what it was used for? Dunno, ....Target practice?

ET is the pattern type and I think E is the background colour.

Never mind. I think I've solved it. The artist is Edward Radford.

Can't make it out, but could be the shape or even pattern code.

H.J. Wood / Radford.

Yes post war. I tend to leave out the "E" when describing this period.
Just an ink-stamp.
The real E Radford is here:

The Woods Radford is pleasant enough in its own right, I suppose, but the original is much better. It's the pottery equivalent of the Bootleg Beatles.

Re: Radford pottery by H J Wood / Wood & Sons (Woods).
Some of it is nice, and collectable, but not in the same league as the the pre-war.
Woods/Radford 'Genoa' vase.
One very similar to the twin-handled vase posted by benwilliams on this thread.
Impressed marks 'Made in England. Genoa'. Painted decorator's mark 'B'. Lower, in very faint script is 'Woods Ware. Made in England'. Very pretty hand-painted butterflies decoration and yes, that is a faint hairline on the back.
