Re: Fishley Holland family, Dunster & Minehead Potteries
Was the Dunster Fishley Holland pottery a production pottery? With a number of high producing potters working in it? Have always wondered,as there has always seemed to be quite a lot of it about,in relative terms. There are 39 items on Ebay at this precise moment for instance.

Re: Fishley Holland family, Dunster & Minehead Potteries
I believe it was a family business with several of his children potting plus assistants, some of whom set up their own potteries like Yeo, which made very similar pieces.

I believe that Naomi is correct, although there is no indication from the source that I have that George had children who potted. He did have two nephews who do/did but they didn't work at Dunster. His wife Florence most certainly helped in the 7 years that they were there.
You also have to remember that George's father, William, had learnt his trade in the old country potteries where throwing 1000 plant pots in a day was not uncommon so I imagine that that work ethic was passed down.

Here is a nice GT Holland vase I came across in a charity shop recently. More Fishy than Fishley :-)
It was nice that the woman who served me had donated it and it had belonged previously to her parents who had bought it new, she thought in the early 60s.

The date fits, as George was there from 1958 until 1965. Is it a large vase?

Agreed, Fishley Holland. Possibly signed by one of William's children or assistants.

No doubt Fishley Holland, looks to be a 60-80's item. Lots of family members to choose from.

This style of decoration originated during the 1960s. The Fishley Holland's closed the pottery in Clevedon, where this would have been made in 1977.

Definitely Fishley Holland. They were a large family of potters.
