Re: Marianne de Trey, Shinner's Bridge Pottery, Dartington
I've seen pieces made by Marianne De Trey in this glaze pattern so that's a possibility. But other potteries have also used it, eg, Bartley Heath Pottery, so not a definite identification. I haven't found any other jugs in exactly this shape , though, but similar ones I've seen do have a wooden handle.

Hi I think you're right. Ive just had a look at some of her other work and it is so very very similar - my only concern is that the stamp isnt entirely clear for the d and e either side of the T. Thank you so much for your help :)

Sad, but 102 is a good age and to do what you love until your 90s can't be bad.

Hi,
I wonder if you could shed light on two pieces of what I believe t be Marianne de Trey pottery.
They have what looks to be her impressed mark (I have attached a picture of the mark).
What intrigues me is the fact that the pieces are not typical of her work and I can find no other images/record of work like this.
I think they look 70s/80s but they could be earlier.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

Excellent article.
Love this bit:[de Trey] describes the drama of the kiln opening with its mixture of anxiety and anticipation:
Well, that was wonderful, there were things that turned out as you hoped they would and things that got stuck together and things that fell off the roof.[80]
Very informative and a good read, thank you for posting this link.
I find that paragraph rather charming too. It reminded me of a piece I had read about Ruth King, I will try and find the page to upload it.

Stoneware bowl, cut foot, triangle mark - Marienne de Trey
20 cm stoneware bowl, mix of speckled grey and toasted brown, impressed pattern, high cut away foot.
triangle mark, I keep looking at it and thinking there is JL for Janet Leach. But I’m probably completely wrong.
Remains of label on base could be to do with DEVON where I live - don’t know if this is makers or exhibition or owners label.
I like it, whatever it is but I’d like it more if......
