Italian wall plate with pencil drawing
I have seen this type of drawing and marks in several different shapes, dishes, bowls and jars with flat coloured lids.
I would like to find out who is the maker.
Thanks, Rita

I think the little flower mark was Ronzan

Re: Italian wall plate with pencil drawing
Hi Ed, hope you're fine.
It's true, Ronzan uses a small flower but I never saw pieces similar to this by them.
Normally they have hand painted marks and don't use the pencil for decoration or marking as far as I know.

Hi Rita, I'm fine thanks , ok then i'm not sure about the mark , there seems to be plenty about , I think Dave had one recently , they are all done in that child's drawing style , so maybe they are still being made or do you think they date from earlier

Re: Italian wall plate with pencil drawing
Yes, I've found several until now but I'm sure they were made in the late 50's or 60's, they all show signs of age. They could have been touristware...
Don't you want to take a look at my "girl with a watermelon sticker"? A rather puzzling sticker I must say.
Maybe you can recognise it.

Here is a link to the lampbase with the same style of decor
https://www.20thcenturyforum.com/t7716-1950-s-italian-lamp-base-underglaze-crayon
I may be able to solve the mystery of these tomorrow, I know a dealer who has 2 dishes with this crayon decor marked with a flower, but they also have a makers name. I'm going to see him tomorrow so hopefully he still has them.

Re: Italian wall plate with pencil drawing
I've found a similar piece with the initials SOA on the back. Does someone knows what it means?
By the way, Davee, have you solved the mistery?
Thanks, Rita

Re: Italian wall plate with pencil drawing
I did have a look at the dishes Rita, the flower mark was impressed with lettering around it that was not that clear, it read something like - Quadui & aglia. Maybe someone will recognise this.

Re: Italian wall plate with pencil drawing
In Italian "Quattro Lascia" means four leafs, and they use the four leafs clover as a symbol, could it be the name of the company??...
Just a thought, I will make some research.
Thanks Davee.

Re: Italian wall plate with pencil drawing
The name of the company is:
"Il Quadrifoglio"
Apparently it started in Florence at the end of WWII in viale Edmondo De Amicis 95.

Re: Italian wall plate with pencil drawing
I think that this is probably the same maker, and have now found a similar piece (Vodka rather than Brandy) attributed to Il quadrifoglio on eBay. Any thoughts pleaqse ontext on base of this piece. John
