Yes, apparently Jessie Tait's "Zambesi" pattern for Midwinter was the first one of many that followed.

Yes, the glaze and shape and numbering on the base are typical of the 1930s.
Possibly Crown Devon or Howard/Brentleigh Pottery

Re: John Beswick Ltd, Longton (Staffs).
Thank you for a swift response. I think Potty is right, I've found almost identical pieces on ebay. Crown Devon or Howard/Brentleigh Pottery have very similar pieces but the glaze looks the same on Beswick pieces.
It's confusing when not marked.

A bit late coming to the party but definitely Beswick.

Depends on what you mean by not marked I guess, as that style of Made in England mark / number is unmistakably Beswick.

Beswick 823 rabbit
Most baffling item, a Beswick rabbit with the wrong model number stamped on a haunch, not on the base as normal, it is also a different colour to normal too and has been made in a 2 piece mould.
The Beswick collectors club had never seen anything like it, but confirmed it was Beswick!

Beswick 823 rabbit
Here are some photos of the Beswick 823 rabbit.
It is difficult to see, but the highlights are in a khaki colour.

Beswick blue gloss monkey
I thought my days of buying figurines were long behind me, but then I stumbled across this delight at the boot fair this morning. Bit of a Chun like glaze, made in England - impressed and some hand painted markings. I think it is by one of the main factories and if guessing a date I would imagine it to be from the 1950's onwards.
I cannot say I have seen one of these before, so any help identifying the factory will be warmly received, thank you

Sorry about the pictures, I had edited them to face the right way, but for some reason they do not.

I think production went down hill before moving out to China

It says in my Beswick book here that this backstamp is the earliest printed stamp found. The mark looks identical. This rabbit isn't in my book, probably because it's a cruet.
