My bro reckons it could be a pipe-holder. I was thinking spoon-holder but as soon as he said pipe I could see the logic.

He's probably right. Stavangerflint do pipe holders, and they have a similar notched back.

Beware the doves of Zell Sam_2610

Are Zell elephants afeared of Zell Doves when, due to the weird dimensional liberties taken by ceramic artists, both are roughly the same size.
If we're not allowed to mention full size elephants-in-the-room are we likely even to see this one? Seems a shame not to when Anneliese Beckh has gone to so much
trouble.

Beware the doves of Zell Sam_2710

This little fellow, also from Germany but of porcelain stock, was snuggled up next to the elephant in my carrier bag on the way home . He seems a bit lost but responds well to a clean and a condimentary remark.
