Saying that it's very rare being made of black clay and all

Oh ,I am well aware of values Dan , that's for sure and I know what to steer well clear of too , which is more important , I was just interested in what the appeal was on this one , surely it must have been done dozens of times by now Shrugs Shrugs Shrugs

you're right but not on that clay and with that glaze on the back,Poole Delphis collectors are quite competative and only a very few will get to own a plate in black clay

if you intend to do that you should look at the glaze colours on the early Delphis pots shown here, they are the ones to look at if any

Went to see the parents today and took some pics of piece of Poole they have which ties in nicely with the previous posts. Picture quality is not too good, i was using my phone.

Guy Sydenham was using black clay mid to late 1960's so he may have played some part in the production of this plate

I love the glazes on these bowls made in the studio section which was set up and run by Guy Sydenham.
This example is five and a half inches in diameter and was made sometime between 1964 and 1966
I believe Tony Morris also played his part in the production of these experimental glaze bowls so they have a great pedigree Most Excellent

Aegean Plate. . . not really my cup of tea. . . but. . . was £2. . .

It actually looks a lot nicer in person.

Shape 3? (I assume)

Carole Holden? (Going by some marks online I found)

1966-1969? (as above)

the Poole stamp is 1966-1980

but I don't think the Aegean range wasn't introduced until 1970

Carole Holden worked on Aegean 1970-1974, she was on Delphis 1966-1969.

Aegean is ridiculously cheap at the moment. I got a 12" for £6 the other day.

Lovely vase Dan but it's 1960's glazes not '70's. Turn the monogram the other way up and you get Christine Tate!
