Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part One
It looks more like a Studio piece and guess the mark is blue. Is there a paintress's mark? I think you got a bargain.

You may have seen this early 5" Delphis dish on ebay this week.
I didn't think it'd sell for 84 quid, as good as it is...

Nice little plate but certainly not worth that money. I don't like the brown side very much - the other side is pretty decent though.

You've probably seen the website Rob's Poole Pottery... anyway, on one page he has written this:
Janet Laird's career at Poole spanned this period. Joining the pottery in 1969 she was Delphis supervisor from 1970 until 1974. She told me, "when the Poole Pottery glazes started to really turn black, it was probably due to the volume put on a Top Hat kiln. When you have a large collection of red glaze & copper oxides it turns the other glazes black, apart from yellow. When Delphis started to go into production that was the problem, so the glazes had to be changed".

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part One
I've seen it written somewhere that the Delphis shape bowl 92 (4") and the slightly bigger 93 were made during different dates.
Shape 92 is down as being made between 1966 and 1968, and the 93 as from 1973 to 1980.
This doesn't seem right. What do you guys think?
Some photos would be good!

That's a nice one.
Having a black Poole mark dates it to 1966, so Carolyn Bartlett must have left Poole later than is often stated.

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part One
I'm not sure, but from the Poole mark this dish seems to be from 1959 - 1967.
It recently sold on ebay for nearly 80 quid.
The seller said it was a trial piece of Freeform and was pre-Studio.

Here's a 10" plate (shape 4) with a blue Poole transfer and what looks like Carolyn Bartlett's mark:

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part One
Members normally post these as separate posts on the Poole pottery thread and then those in the know can find them and Id the painter. We already know its Poole, and the period when they were made so I don't think they really need to be in Id My Pottery .

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part One
Not quite a Poole collector yet, since I'd need two more pieces (!), but I'm on my way with this one that I discovered yesterday in London, Ontario, Canada. I did a bit of research and it's a Delphis 13.5" charger Shape #5. Absolutely beautiful condition and colour and I love it very much! The artist initials look like TB or TS - so perhaps Theresa Smith, Tessa Bailey, or Thelma Bush???
Looking for any extra information you guys can provide ... including (hopefully!) value.

Hi Belinda,
My guess is Theresa Smith as it looks like a later 1970's piece
