Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part One
My guess is it's from around 1965.l33ham180 wrote:

I have a small pot with similar glazes which has the blue Poole mark (no shape number)...

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part One
I've read that Ruth Pavely retired from Poole in 1965.
Here's an early Delphis bowl that seems to have her mark. However, I wondered if it was Jean Millership's.
What do you think?

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part One
It is Jean Millership's mark. Ruth Pavely's mark points the other way (left at the top, right at the bottom). It was based on a swastika originally (pre-war).
I have seen a couple of Studio pieces with Ruth's mark (and Tony Morris confirmed that she used to come into the studio sometimes) but never Delphis so I think 1965 is right.

This early 4.5" Delphis vase (shape 67) sold recently on ebay for 170 quid.
It must be from 1965. You can see Ruth's mark...

I quite fancied that as a partner for my black one but £170 seemed a bit steep
Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part One

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part One
This carved bowl looks to have the JOC mark. However, when rotated 90 degreses, it looks like the letters S and C overlaid; the brush strokes certainly seem like an S and a C...

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part One
This mark looks a bit like Nellie Bishton's alternative one.
Does anyone here know if she used this in her later years?

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part One
There seems to be some confusion here.
Cycladelic, ppcollectables already identified the mark on your Shape 85 vase as Noreen Andrews (correctly in my view).
Naomi seems to have thought that was for her plate but the post is headed "Shape 85 vase" if you look carefully. Naomi, I think your plate is probably Angela Wyburgh from the style in which case the mark is upside down and is 2 lines and a dot, although the two lines have joined at the top.

Here's an 8-inch plate with the TV mark. As you can see, it's not signed.
Any ideas who painted it?

Hi
I've found this serving dish and whilst I'm almost convinced it is Poole it has no mark. Is this unusual ?? Thanks

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part One
yes it is Poole, designed by the great Robert Jefferson in 1961 for the Lucillus oven to table range
I see them at fairs once or twice a year but they're not common
