Corfe Castle
here's an unusual and well executed design by Leslie Elsden, the colours have been fired perfectly to maximise the orange peel finish.

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part One
I have quite a few pieces of Delphis, but not many were painted by Ann Godfrey.
Here's a 49 of hers.
I wonder if other collectors have found Ann's pieces to be less common than those of the other paitresses, and why that might be so: Was she doing other work at Poole?

]
Carol Cutler started at Poole in 1969 and her first mark was Y. .
These two 49ers have her second mark - Cc.
You can see that the first has a large footring, while the second has no footring.
Does anyone know when the footring was done away with?

Here are a few 5" dishes.
The first two have the late Studio mark, while the bottom two have the blue Poole one - both painted by Jean Millership:

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part One
I like this one which looks like it's a Studio piece - I have a 5 inch dish with a similar design.
I bought that blue one from you that's bottom left. It's one of my faves.

Here are some 8" Shape 3 plates I have... including that blue one from you.
The second one looks to have a glaze from the earlier range of Poole - 50s. It is matt brown and the back has the larger dia' footring.

It looks the same...
But it is a bit different...
Mine has the blue Poole mark and Geraldine O’Meara's three stripes.

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part One
I've just clicked through 71 pages of Poole and only seen one picture of a vase of this shape (in an Aegean group shot by Dan).
The base is so dark that the mark is only visible using my microscope:
66-80 mark with 'AEGEAN' and '34', I can't find a decorator's mark.

Yes, Cynthia Bennett is the paintress. ABJ is the pattern code; one from the Dorset collection of 1979 when Poole were trying various things as a replacement for Delphis. The patterns were all leafy designs coded ABA through ABK.
Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part One
It seems that the footring on 49s was discontinued around 1970, as these two dishes were decorated by Loretta Leigh, who worked at Poole in that year.
