Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part Two
Thank you! It seems more sort of rough in look than the ones I've seen pictures of, with brighter & shinier glazes. Is this just a different artist's style?

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part Two
yes it was the beginning of the studio department and experimentation was at a peak so all sorts of designs and techniques were employed
The brighter designs are more sought after but yours is unusual

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part Two
Thanks, that is helpful. Do you have a recommendation of what is a good source to use to get a rough idea of value? (I'm assuming one isn't supposed to ask that here :)

no we discourage such requests as the floodgates could open and ruin the forum

Thank you, I understand, and I'm actually also interested in the piece for non-monetary reasons. :)

There are 2 shapes of onion vase the other is slightly less spherical. Values can vary so much and who are any one of us to say how much another person may be willing to pay for something. But with that proviso I would say that £80 is the very lowest value upto £100 + ( see how i've left the top value deliberatly vague ).

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part Two
Anyone know anything about this piece. A small trinket pot with the Poole Studio TV stamp on the base and just visible a shape number 73. My copy of the Hayward and Atterbury book only has model numbers from 1963 up to 53.
I've never seen another one. Is it a known model?

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part Two
yes it's a sprayed glaze technique and the design was devised by Tony Morris,

It is in my 2002 edition H&A page 118. Shape No. 73 Powder Box 4" x 1 3/4".
You don't see them often.

Nice colours. I always found spear trays very difficult to display well so I sold the few I've owned.

Yes the "Spears" and the "Eyes" are not the best selling shapes.

Both displays look very good but also a great deal of effort just to display a few plates...

I don't think any of them were ever mine but I've seen several come and go 2-3 times that I once owned.

Yes, I did a bit of work, but as earthquakes strike quite often here, I needed a way to secure them well...
The above photo is of 60 x 5" dishes, plus a few Studio vases. There are more Poole pieces on boards behind the camera - a selection of 10" plates, shape 81s and 361s, plus those 10 spear dishes.
This fixing method allows me to change pieces around without any additional work as the s/s hooks rotate.
