Re: Dartington Pottery
the signature belongs to Donna Cockram and the design was one the the variations of Hay Meadow such as Charlotte's field or Charlottes garden.
It would be good to document the design names on the forum as they no longer appear on the old Dartington website

large multi coloured charger by Dartington Pottery
" />
" />
this is a really pretty very shallow dish/charger and measures approx 11" across
there looks to be a stylised A underneath and I cant find it in any of my books - does anyone recognise the mark or pottery?
many thanks

Re: Dartington Pottery
A test piece, maybe. Not sure that brown should be brown. Incorrectly fired, possibly.

Many thanks for the I.D. :) It really is a lovely thing and an unusual shape. I had a look around to see if i could find a possible artist with no luck yet.

Dartington Pottery, IDHelp potter
I have been trying to identify the potter of this 5 1/2 inches jug and have now found one very similar attributed to Janice Tchaelenko and one vaguely similar attributed to Marianne de Trey, but can find no other images by either similar enough to confirm.
Any thoughts and suggestions much appreciated, Thanks John

Re: Dartington Pottery
There is no potter's mark Dan, I was hoping someone may recognise the decorative style as I can find no examples of either potter which are similar to this other than the 2 attributed pieces, neither of which are confirmed attributions

Re: Dartington Pottery
It's the pattern commonly attributed to Janice Tchaelenko, but, as I understand it, she was just the designer; the company employed a team of decorators for when the patterns were put into production.

I had no idea she was at Dartington before the 90's?

Best person to ask us Mick Dixon, now at Bartley Heath Pottery

Re: Dartington Pottery
Tbh, it looks more like something Marianne de Trey would come up with, rather than the far more colourful designs of Tchalenko.

Re: Dartington Pottery
Marianne de Trey wasn't really connected with the Dart Pottery later to be Dartington Pottery.
She had been Chair of the Dartington Pottery Training Workshop that had preceded the pottery but was not involved in the day to day activities. The actual pottery was started by Stephen Course, Peter Cook & Peter Hazell in de Trey's old workshop and it is likely that this pattern came from them or one of them. I will check through some old Ceramic Reviews when I have time.
Tchalenko never actually worked there but produced some designs for them, as she did for Poole.

Re: Dartington Pottery
I just bought this Peacock Design vase but as we have had several in this thread already I'll just post a pic of the base marks
I haven't seen the Sue K paintress mark before but she was at Dartington in 2002

diamond pattern vase - Dartington
Hi
I am new to the forum and hope my photos are all ok.
I have a pottery vase with an unidentified mark on the rim of the base. The diamond pattern vase has different finishes with matt and glossy panels.
If anyone could help me identify the pottery or any other information I would be very grateful.
Thank you
Diana
