Hi everyone!

I've trawled through this thread looking for the initials 'VSW' or an image of a ship / sailboat / schooner.

I picked this up today in a charity shop, and I'm pretty certain its Chelsea.

Does anyone know of a decorator who may have used the mark in the pictures? Or has anyone seen any ships coming out of Chelsea Potteries?

Ships are uncommon and I have only seen galleons or viking ship before - not a modern yacht. The picture looks a bit like some of those on regatta medallions. VSW is a new one - I think your idea of Vicki Watts is spot on. She trained at Chelsea pottery in the early 1960s.

Wow. Fabulous dish - are the others in the same vein? What does it have on the back?

There are another 4. This one and 3 of the others have no glazing on the reverse and "Chelsea Pottery" and another symbol (a bit like a ying yang maybe). The other one is a cockerel, glazed on both side, no Chelsea mark but looks like a Joyce Morgan sig on the front. one of the others is of a sleeping cat, the other 2 are pretty weird, an abstract of a nude women from behind and a the other has a kind of William Blake: prophet and seditionary vibe. Will take some photos later

I've only seen other unglazed dishes with a Ying-Yang symbol - some of those were by Joyce Morgan, the others unmarked.

Might that possibly be a monogram? It seems deliberate, or just wishful thinking?

Here is the Cockerel! Very similar to the one at the top of this page. Glazed underside but no markings at all. Looks like a Joyce Morgan sig tho.

Some most interesting unusual pieces.
Are the unglazed ones very thin and light? They are believed to have been thrown by
Frank Spindler, like my broken one here:
