Midcentury Italian Cobalt Pieces with Multicolor Geometric Pattern- Bitossi
Can anyone help me ID the maker of these great pieces? After a couple hours of internet research, the closest thing I have found was one piece that was similar, claiming to be Bitossi, but nothing else. They are cobalt blue with some black unglazed areas, and have multicolored glazings applied in a geometric pattern. the base appears to be terra cotta. I have a pair of candlesticks marked Italy 897, a biscuit jar marked Italy 850, and a vase marked either Italy 892 or 899, in black. Any thoughts? Sorry some of these came in oriented wrong, they turned after I inserted them and I don't know how to fix it! Thanks!

FF usually has a 4-digit number. These could be Bitossi - I'm sure I've had a Bitossi vase in the same form as the one in the photo.

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
Thanks Alex and Naomi. Alex it is interesting you would say that about the form...I have seen several Bitossi candlesticks in varying colors that match this form as well.

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
After another look, I'm pretty confident this is Bitossi.

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
Does seem to be Bitossi, if it's the same design as this one from their catalogue -

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
Certainly looks right for Bitossi but I couldn't say if it was an Aldo Londi design. Do you have a base photo?

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
Yes, I think so. The colours seem to be a mix of Rhimini blue and chartreuse yellow

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
The piece is signed Italy and with code numbers which apply to the retailers or wholesalers they were supplied to, rather than maker's initials. Bitossi lost a large part of it's archive 20-30 years ago, so what most of the numbers refer to are unknown. However the sequence can be used to give a rough date - probably made in the 60s.
