Eeles family, Shepherds Well Pottery (Dorset)

Stoneware studio plate, David Eeles or family, Shepherds Well?
No mark, colours look like maybe Shepherds Well.

Definitely David Eeles. I have had several of his, and the style is unmistakeable. It looks quite an early style tho. Would not be surprised if was 1960's or so.

Thanks Phil. That’s good to know. David made nice pots but I’ve sometimes seen some lovely things by the rest of the family too . There was a similar plate on eBay which did have DE mark.

Not anything much like Derek Clarkson's decoration.

Pattern not the usual but the colours are the same could be a one off especially the Grey colour. Can't find any similar pottery other than Derek Clarkson.

I think Naomi is correct. They were a busy pottery with all the family making pieces. They did a very large number of different styles. You are not going to find a fraction of the different work they did in Google photos The Brown branch decoration reminds of David Eeeles.

Without a mark it is quite difficult to to identify a piece by style alone.

Your right Philpot it's even hard to find the maker with a basemark on.

34cm long.
No mark, but they did sometimes shuts have labels I think.

Dead right! David Eeles as well. That colour palette, the glazes and the type of foliage. Atypical of his work. Great potter,and really not well enough appreciated.
