David Eeles large vase. He did have a very distinct decorative design.

David Eeles decanter and cups made in 1965 at the Walker Art gallery Liverpool.

Thrown, squashed vase, wax resist type decoration.
Looks like BS impressed mark and painted code 101.
Couldn’t see the mark in the book.

Well done Naomi, you were right - reply from Simon Eeles - it’s his work from 1983-1984. Seems he had an ES mark then.

Lol, £16.90, that says a bit about its age.

Eeles Pottery is superbly made but very underrated

Hello, I'm trying to identify the maker of this item.

H 14cm W 11CM

Looks to be mid 20th century.

Retailed through Peter Dingley Gallery, Stratford Upon Avon, label on bottom says made by David ?????

David Eeles. Unusual for it not have a mark, he was fairly efficient at his marking.

The Peter Dingley Gallery in Stratford was one the very cutting edge studio pottery galleries for a couple of decades. They did a number pf significant Hans Coper and Lucie Rie exhibitions.

The mark just may be under the sticker?

But do not take the sticker off!!!! The very fact it has a Peter Dingley sticker adds to its value.

I would agree with you very much Naomi. There is such a wide range of styles and decoration as so many of the family were potters. Equally it has a date range covering almost the whole historical era of modern British studio pottery since David Eeeles started in 1955. A much undervalued and under appreciated pottery.

although that vase is a shocker!

It’s a lot nicer in the flesh. There was also a taller one with the same shape and decoration but without the red, but it had been chipped on the rim so I left it.

Pick up this lovely David Eeles vase and still has the original price on the sticker, wonder if it's worth more than that now or less. Any ideas for the date of this piece, 70s, 80s or a bit later.  

You need to look on sold prices in Ebay. The Eeles family have done terrific stuff but often it is not reflected in the value of it.
