Re: Eeles family, Shepherds Well Pottery (Dorset)
A David Eeles vase from a charity shop today. In all these years I have only found a
couple of Eeeles family bits (they're in the attic somewhere).

I have this pot by David Eeles. I actually think its a bit unbalanced - the foot being too large - BUT the colours are gorgeous & much more subtle than the photo implies.

Yes, their glazes are wonderful. That one has their Shepherd's Well mark which they don't seem to use anymore.

Bowl with 'pie crust edge' - Eeles Family, Shepherds Well Pottery
Hi
The stallholder I bought this from was unable to identify the potter. There is no mark and I don't recognise the style. So I'm asking you knowledgable lot for help.
19cms x6cms deep. The glaze on the top edge is greener than appears in the images. Apologies for lousy photos, the external decoration was very difficult to photograph ( darkish glaze and reflection)

Yes. Found a Benjamin Eeles piece with the same folded rim and celadon glaze, and the decoration is typical Eeles.

Either David Eeles or Terry Godby when he was at Shepherds Well pottery. According to Simon Eeles

Re: Eeles family, Shepherds Well Pottery (Dorset)
Funny you should say that. I found one recently this shape which was decorated internally, and similar to another one by Benjamine Eeles. I'll move it to the Eeles thread in due course.

I received the following email this morning: -
It is with great sadness that we wish to inform you that David Eeles passed away on the 21st of September after a short illness. He had a long and productive life making pots and was in the workshop only two day before going into hospital.
The funeral will be next Thursday 1st of October anyone wanting more information please email me back.

Studio lampbase - Benjamin Eeles, Shepherds Well Pottery
Any suggestions for this lampbase with oval impressed seal - looks like B and E either side of a strange shape?!

Re: Eeles family, Shepherds Well Pottery (Dorset)
That would make sense because the "strange shape" in the middle is, well, a well and the mark of his parents' Shepherds Well Pottery. If I'd have bothered to look through Yates-Owen and Fournier I would undoubtedly have missed it! Anyway, thanks for the id.

Gosh thank you - this one hasnt travelled far then as we found it in Exeter. We were a bit lucky to see it as it was hiding behind some wooden step ladders. I havent handled his work before but I shall certainly be looking out for more.
