Re: Farnham Pottery (Surrey)
It’s been a long search (for a bargain) but I finally have one

Re: Farnham Pottery (Surrey)
I know the site is down (such a shame), I have the list of marks somewhere as I'm a bit of a hoarder via Evernote.
Would obviously require permission to post.

Re: Farnham Pottery (Surrey)
Congrats on the bargain Naomi.
I have a lot of Farnham at home in various shapes, sizes and colors at the moment after picking up a couple of collections. Not all of it is owls and most showing a little love in the past with signs of use. I will try and post on here once I have them all together.
I also have funnily enough a CH Brannam owl that is almost identical. I am not sure who designed them first or if they existed at the same time. the marks would suggest an almost identical date with the CH Brannam owl being much harder to find.

Re: Farnham Pottery (Surrey)
They do seem to have copied each other’s Owl designs. And Greyshott put out it’s own, particularly ugly, version in the 60s-70s

I have a Bourne Denby one. tbh, I think they were the prettiest of the lot

Re: Farnham Pottery (Surrey)
I always assumed the Bourne Denby ones were from the 1950's onward's with the Farnham and Brannam ones taking up the 1910-1930 period but I am really not sure. Its how they appear to me.
Greyshott I really don't know and there was also a European maker of almost identical designs from the first part of the 20th century.

N - Checking it says [HARRIS HANDMADE....ENGLAND SQUARE MARK] "This impressed mark was still in use in the 1990s. It had been used for many years."
Re: Farnham Pottery (Surrey)
I was lucky enough to bump into Richard and Geraldine at Peterborough. I managed to sell them some Farnham at knock down prices on the understanding they put them on the website. They said they would although I think they are a little behind getting all 250 bits they own online. For those without the link to the NEW IMPROVED Farnham website (I am sure they don't mind) here it is:

Re: Farnham Pottery (Surrey)
They were sold as basins, with jugs, and smaller versions. The Farnham website mentions Guildford Cathedral wares, made from clay from the cathedral site in the late 30s, which are also unglazed on the outside and same colour inside, so maybe one of those.

Re: Farnham Pottery (Surrey)
This little booklet arrived today and I'm impressed. It's by Richard Hogg who has the Farham website. Don't expect too much from it, it's only A5 and 64 pages but professionally put together and packed with useful information and more importantly loads on images
Well worth the few pounds it cost.
***** Stars from me Thanks Richard

Yea that one went for under 500 from my records in Evernote - seems cheap now for something you need a wheelbarrow to move
Re: Farnham Pottery (Surrey)
I prefer the one above it. The blue lead based glaze is a lot nicer.
