Yes, 1963-4 I think. It looks like a shape 19 which should be 6 1/2" tall. The handwritten "Poole Studio" is not in the book but other examples are known. The early Studio glazes were all over the place, many of them trials, but I seem to remember a similar yellow in Cottees 2 or 3 sales ago.
thanks Gareth I hope you have a great New Year

We haven't had any of the 'brown stuff' recently so here's an Aegean plate decorated by Carole Holden. I love these latex resist pieces with the wonderfully textured background

Paul had a similarly shaped vase with the same same handwritten "Poole Studio" signature if I remember rightly. It was a particularly good example too. I believe it has been sold on now.

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part One
I had forgotten that one!
Here's a studio vase I picked up in Wrexham over New Year while visiting family:
It's the rare impressed TV mark so very early Jefferson probably. Has a couple of small fleabites but was quite cheap!

LW actually Laura Wills (1976 - 1980) if you look closely there's probably a potter's monogram under the glaze

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part One
Saw a leaping deer similar to this on a Carter Stabler and Adams teapot at Winchester. I suspect this one of their early 1920s Art Deco designs.

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part One
The leaping deer pattern is certainly a 1920's design but this is rather more crudely drawn and I think will be a later interpretation. From the vase shape I would think this should have a 1990's Studio base stamp? Same sort of period as this:
Carole Holden Mug??
Any ideas please on decorator of this mug? One mark looks a bit like the early mark attributed to Carole Holden but not sure this is her style. There is also another mark above which appears to be possibly KW. I am guesssing made early 60s. Was the personalizing a common thing or could it have been put on later.
Thanks John

possibly Georgina Hare as it looks to be from around 1955 but Gareth will no doubt put you right as he knows far more than me about this period

I have now seen another piece attributed to Georgina Hare with same mark and it appears that the KW mark is the pattern

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part One
This jug is later though 1959 - 1967 so the mark will belong to Tessa Bailey 1963 - 1964.
Personalisation was done at the factory and is quite common, either names or anniversaries, or prizes for bowling competitions or whatever.

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part One
just to be sure Gareth, are you talking about the jug on ebay or are you talking about Vanman's mug but said jug because you couldn't get busty jugs off your mind?

I wonder if the 49 on the left was painted by Angela Wyburgh as it has the small footring. The other two seem to be Angela's monogram - the one on the right being her later mark.

Here's an 8" plate I bought over 20 years ago - can't remember where I picked it up, but it was cheap.
The body seems to be stoneware - what some here have called black clay.
Is the glaze on the back called 'serpentine' - the same one used on Guy Sydenham "New Stoneware" coffee set circa 1967?
The monogram on the plate is Carol Holden's, the one she used from 1966 to around 1968. It has the impressed Poole mark.
Were other Delphis plates and dishes - 49s, 81s or whatever - also made in this stoneware?

Thanks for the fast reply.
I asked as I think Angela started at Poole in 1968, yet the small footring seems to be earlier than this... maybe 1966.
