This is a great thread and whilst I am a bit late, thought I would add one of our better Chelsea purchases.
Never used them and have, sadly, spent more years in a box than on display.

Difficult to date. The pottery was set up in 1951 and closed in 1997.

7” wall hanging bowl.
1960s or 1970s look. Brown glaze on back looks like Chelsea perhaps. Or Guernsey?
Plate has initials on front - SC or CS perhaps or a CG or GC.

That is such an expressive and unusual piece. You do really have to admire the Chelsea decorators, they did some wonderful individual stuff. Yes definitely Chelsea.

I think your first guess is correct, the signature, style, glaze and clay colour all add up to Joyce imo
