This is from the Denby/Langley "Magnolia" range, MA323 Goblet.
Designed by Glyn College 1979.
You may find this range with either factory mark, but they were all made
in white clay at Langley Mill. Unmarked ones I suspect are seconds.

They are from Langley Mill, (1883-1890). The mark is known as the "Langle ware" mark,often hard to read. The numbers etc. are shape/slipcolur/turners/decorators marks. These have had an accident in the firing, so didn't go on to be gilded as mine are.

Any thoughts on this large 10" vase, buff stoneware with an interesting combination of glazes. Marked just Made in England. Any comments appreciated.

This is my first piece of Langley, can anyone tell me who designed it/age please? Approx 10" much nicer in the flesh.

This design is called "Batik" by Glyn college c1961.

Hi there....Last post for the day here for me (LOL)

Thought I would post a very, very old piece of LOVATT, LANGLEY MILL POTTERY ( BLOSSOMWARE VASE ) marked.  On Wikipedia it shows it there and states a date of 1923, Pattern Number # 2078.  Gold highlights on it.  I would never guess that this vase is almost (or is) a 100 years old.

It's called "Soraya" designed by Glyn College 1968.

A strange little miniature vase, with a paper label I've never seen before. c1954-63.

During the 30s John Spencer was a designer for Langley Mill pottery, best known for
his sgraffito wares, usually decorative items but there were also domestic pieces,
usually in a shiny blue, like named storage jars, teapots etc.

He carried on the technique at Pearsons in the 1950s

Even though the pottery was just in Derbyshire, the old border
being defined by the river Erewash, the word "Derbyshire"
never appears in any marks, however "Notts" appears on
and off, on marks up to c1913, so it may have been in the
Nottingham postal area at some time.

After the takeover by Denby in 1959, the products could
be marked either as Denby or Langley until closure in 1982.

Yes correct, it is a "daisy ware" tobacco jar, unfortunately missing the lid, and the
brass "spider" clamp, which was often over-tightened, which then cracked the lid.
A lot were made for retail tocacconists, so were unmarked, apart from "england".

The date numbers are beneath the mark, but I can't quite make them out 13?

These fern pots are in a 1911 catalogue. Yours is the "MYRTLE" colourway (gilded).

Cheapskate Naomi! 102 years old, but alas, rather common, and not that collectable.

One of a set of 6 stoneware animals, that were sold as a boxed set in 1959,
but never marked.

This caught my eye for both the form and decoration, clean and bright.

Have this Langley Mill piece, looks like a 1960-70's vase. In some ways the shape and form remind me of Glyn Colledge, but not the colour palette. Can anyone help me date and I.D the design/designer.

This is the larger of the three 126 shape vases, which were used for the "Sycamore"
range designed by Glyn in 1963.
I might have seen something like it before,
not sure exactly what this is though, it could be a trial.

Caught my eye today. I thought this was an interesting vase with an unusual stamp for Langley. I've found a few examples of the stamp on the web, but I can't find this particular vase in this mottled finish, not even on Studio Pots.
Could someone tell me if this is 1930's Langley please?

Yes it is 1930s, just one of those odd glazes from that period.
