Eric Leaper
Eric was born in London in 1921 but it wasn't until 1954 that he moved to Newlyn and opened his successful pottery,He produced the most vibrant coloured glazes by using dangerous chemicals so you will not be seeing his colours reproduced in the uk ever again.
The Newlyn pottery closed in 1980 when he and his family moved to Sennen near Lands End , he then started to produce his wonderful red splodged animals.
Eric died in 2002 and the world became a little duller.

Re: Eric Leaper
Although this colourway is not the most collectable & never fetches the large prices of his more garishly coloured work,I rate it above all others.

Re: Eric Leaper
my latest Leaper pot,I think the oak leaf design was his best work employing an effortless, loose scrafitto technique,as always the best designs are the most simple.

Re: Eric Leaper
this 5.5 inch vase is signed Leaper Newlyn, it has a lot of old crazing on the inside which suggests to me that it's an early Newlyn piece

Re: Eric Leaper
these goblets arrived today, very roughly thrown as is common with Leaper pottery but in this case I think it adds to their appeal.
