Has handwritten marks including GR on all pieces which I take to be designer or decorator, picture of base didn't come out at all well, will take another when I have the time.

Re: Vallauris (South of France)
I hope this is in the right place?
I got this a couple of years ago and have just found out Albert Thiry was based in Vallauris in the 1960's
Born in 1932 in Nice and passed over in Oct 2009 in Vallauris

I dont think thats quite how he made them its more akin to the way of putting the letters in a stick of rock IMOdantheman wrote:Thanks,it must have taken hours of work to form these scenes from tiny mosaic pieces
Re: Vallauris (South of France)
The first piece I had ever seen. I enjoyed it so much I hung it in the shop and the amount of interest was so much that I kept it When there is so much interest in a piece, I know it will sell in the future, so now is my time to enjoy it.tenpot wrote:thats an unusual Thiry very niceterrypotter wrote:Sorry pictures too large, can anyone point me to the edit button
Re: Vallauris (South of France)
Bought this is a junk market sale this weekend, I had never heard of Vallauris. Is this genuine do you think, only a written mark, really shiny almost pearl like. Any information appreciated. Cost £1.

I bought 7 boxes of absolute rubbish at an auction last week because I noticed two of these ashtrays in there.

Vallaruis Pot
I am looking for any information on a terracotta pot with a makers mark on the side. The mark is an oval with "Vallaruis" & "Made in France" inside and an 8 under and to the left of the oval. The pot's dimensions are 5" high and 9.5" wide. As far as I can best describe this pot is a cross between a bean pot and a Confit pot without the handle.
I am looking for the maker of the pot and what it is worth. Thank you for any information you might have.

Re: Vallauris (South of France)
This is one of my favourites. It's clearly signed to the base but I can't make head nor tail of the signature.
Stands 14cm high, rim diameter just over 10cm. It looks like the under glaze is brown with a slightly foamy white glaze over that and the blue design painted over, opposing flowers and a circular design like 3 faces on top of oneanother. The whole thing gives it a mottled effect, as if it grew out of the ground rather than being made. It's lovely, one of my favourites.
I bought it from Germany, but it could come from anywhere I suppose and I can't make any start on the signature. As always any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Vallauris (South of France)
it was a plate with the same design it had the same marks as yours tho there was some discussion that it might be a fake.unlike yours the clay colour was not visible either a glazed over foot or a strange white claystudio-pots wrote:dantheman wrote:studio-pots wrote:I bought 7 boxes of absolute rubbish at an auction last week because I noticed two of these ashtrays in there.
one of these is on Dickinson's real deal at the moment valued £1100-£1500
sold for £750
Not a programme I watch but I'll see if I can see it on my "on demand" feature. Thanks for letting me know.
Re: Vallauris (South of France)
this piece of Picault arrived today, the decoration is superb but the lid is a very poor fit,in fact it's so poor I'm wondering if it belongs to the pot?

Re: Vallauris (South of France)
it does seema bit big but quality control wasnt all that good. Yesterday i saw a Picault signed with the full name that had a huge chip out of the side due to a bit of plaster in the clay it had still been glazed and fired on top!!
